Hi, my name is Benjamin Currie but you can just call me Ben. I grew up in Australia and took to digital media at a young age, it started as a teenager creating "Skins" for Winamp and then creating animations for high school projects using Flash. I studied Computer Science at the University of Western Australia and during this time realised that I loved building projects that people could interact with.
Out of university I began a career as a "Web developer" (as it was called then) and quickly gained knowledge freelancing for a variety of clients and agencies. Working on smaller projects meant I had to wear multiple hats allowing me to develop my skills as a multidisciplanary creator. I have worked in roles requiring me to act the role of full stack developer, designer, researcher and project manager. My work has taken me all around the world including Australia, Chile, Canada and the Netherlands.
I am now based in Amsterdam as an App designer at Booking.com, the worlds largest travel website. My work affects millions of people helping them to experience the world. I have the privelege to work on the highest rated travel apps within both the iOS App store and Google Play. Here I have honed my skills facilitating user tests, prototyping, running workshops and A/B testing with large volumes of data. I have also contributed to Booking.com's design system used by hundreds of designers and developers, created Figma plugins and helped shape the design community as it grew from 50 to 300 designers by interviewing hundreds of candidates.
